Farm Y
Project Description: A modest farm building has been reinvigorated with a small <1000sf addition, new finishes, remodeled interior, and a new form. The existing roof line was preserved and we fit within the existing footprint as much as possible.
The client asked us to reinforce the views that were not captured with the current structure, and create a more open living space. It was also requested that we add a bedroom and create a en-suite bathroom for all three bedrooms.
In the end the solution is economical and simple. We have framed on top of the existing roof to create a larger roofline and a more balanced building form. A fresh white paint job with some wood screening reflects the new modern interior on the exterior. The living space is open with a high volume ceiling and the kitchen has been enlarged with an island. We further took advantage of the beautiful site by creating an outdoor dining and food prep area. The cumulative total of all these small changes is huge, turning an old tired design into a modest and beautiful building.
